The craze of fad diets is increasing day by day, to the point where we can’t keep up! We frequently come across a new diet that promises weight loss in just a few weeks, but whether they’re to be trusted is another story. But whatever they promise, they always manage to break the Internet. So here’s yet another trending diet that’s got everyone crazy – the military diet, which claims to help you lose up to 10 pounds in a week. Read on to know all about it.
What Is The Military Diet?
The military diet, also known as the army diet, is divided into two phases. The first phase involves a three-day plan based on low calorie food while the second phase is a four-day plan based on normal diet. The diet promises to help you lose weight in less than a week. However, if you still don’t reach your goal you can repeat the diet all over again as often as you want. The diet was designed by nutritionists in the US military to get soldiers quickly into shape.
How Does Military Diet Work?
There’s a set amount of calories that you have to consume in the military diet. Its main focus is on low-calorie food and ice cream – yes, you can gobble down your favourite ice cream! In the first three-day phase, you are only allowed to consume 1100 to 1200 calories, which is less than the recommended regular calorie intake. However, in the second phase you can consume the normal 1800 calories. There is no restriction of the type of foods you’re supposed to eat as long as they are in controlled proportions.
Here is the three-day diet plan:
Breakfast
- 1/2 grapefruit
- 1 slice toast
- 2 tablespoon peanut butter
- 1 cup coffee or tea without sugar and cream
Lunch
- 1 slice toast
- 1 bowl of rice
- Fish or vegetables
- 1 cup coffee or tea without sugar and cream
Dinner
- Grilled chicken or fish
- Vegetables
- 1 apple or banana
- 1 small cup of vanilla ice cream
Is It Effective?
Though the diet promises rapid weight loss, it can be risky and harmful to your health in the long run. You are likely to lose weight, as it is a very low calorie diet, however there is no research that suggests it’s different from any other calorie-restricted diet.
