Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re probably aware of how Korean beauty and skincare regimens are completely taking over – and for good reason too! From aqua peeling to sheet masks, they’ve discovered all the tricks to clearing up your skin and keeping it in perfect shape. This beauty trick might be the strangest one yet.. but we’re just intrigued enough to try it.
According to a Huda Beauty tutorial, the beauty guru got this particular tip from model Bella Hadid, who needs no introduction. This skincare step has been vetted by the best, so who are we to argue? There’s a popular beauty technique in Korea meant to mattify the skin called jamsu. It literally means submerging — you’re supposed to dunk your face into a bowl of cold water after you’ve already applied your foundation, concealer and powder. Sounds crazy, we know — but it works. The point is to give your face an airbrushed appearance. After this, you pat your skin dry and apply the rest of your make-up normally.
Huda Kattan herself wasn’t the biggest fan of this idea, given how insane it sounds. But after seeing the results and how it set her makeup perfectly, she was a true convert. If the most followed beauty blogger in the world buys into the technique, who are we to sidestep it?
Like with all good things, there’s a slight disadvantage to this trick. Jamsu essentially seals the makeup into your pores in order for you to achieve an airbrushed finish. This means you’re going to have to cleanse your face even harder, and more thoroughly than usual if you want to avoid any breakouts! It’s a small setback though, and can definitely be managed. What do you think? Are you convinced yet? Try it and let us know if it really works!
